Sayyed Nasrallah: We can strike any spot in 'Israel'

Al-Manar - Mohamad Shmaysani

"23/07/2007 Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Sunday that Hezbollah's missiles can reach any spot in occupied Palestine. In an interview with al-Jazeera TV Channel to be aired on Monday and Tuesday, Sayyed Nasrallah said, "In July and August (2006), there was no place in occupied Palestine which was out of the reach of the resistance missiles. Tel Aviv or elsewhere, we were certain that we could reach any corner or spot in occupied Palestine and now we are certain that we can reach them." "When the confrontation first took place, we were assuming that is was a normal retaliation to the capturing of the Israeli soldiers, but at night, when the Israeli government took its decision, we declared general alert and every human and material capability available to Hezbollah was put at the disposal of the battle. When the 48 hour truce agreement that took place in Beirut, we did not fire rocket, but when the truce ended, we fire 4000 rockets in a very short time. The Israelis could not grasp the resistance's level of control and management and wondered saying: was Hezbollah really capable of controlling all its forces in the south and the Western Bekaa for 48 hours?

Sayyed Nasrallah touched on the targeting and destruction of the
Israeli warship "Sa'ar 5" on the second day of the aggression. He said that the decision that was taken on that day was to use this particular weapon, which was part of Hezbollah's secret weapons which the Israelis knew nothing about. His eminence stressed those who carried out the attack were Lebanese engineers in the Islamic Resistance. "We took the decision and the fighters were ready and so were their weapons. The crew that fired the rocket was also ready and they all headed to a certain point on the shore line facing the Israeli battleship and then they gave us a signal that they had the warship in firing range. I consider this as one of the many triumphs, that a Lebanese experienced crew fires for the first time at a battleship under the hard circumstances of the war, and hit it with the very first rocket. This is unusual in all military schools. There are two trends who explained this, one that says that it was an outcry and the other says that there had been some kind of care, as Almighty Allah says in the holy Koran, (So you did not slay them, but it was Allah Who slew them, and you did not smite when you smote (the enemy), but it was Allah Who smote.)"

On the possibility that Syria the war Sayyed Nasrallah said that keeping the war within Lebanon meant that it would be kept under control, and an expansion of the war in the region would have been unlimited with unknown consequences. "What I certainly know is that Syria informed Israel through mediators that in case of a ground advance in the Arqoub region towards Hasbayya – Rashayya near the eastern mountain chain, constitutes a security threat to Damascus, adding that Syria will take action and join the battle to defend itself."

Hezbollah's Secretary General said that the Islamic Resistance's capability to hit all targets in northern occupied Palestine, Haifa and what's after Haifa, and the continuation of this capability until the very last day of the war, constitutes a major power factor for Hezbollah. He signaled that the Israeli air force had failed to prevent resistance fighters from launching rockets until the last day of the war. "When we said that we would target Tel Aviv should Beirut be bombed, we were serious about it. Of course it was Tel Aviv and even what's after Tel Aviv. During the war, there was no place in occupied."
