No Kidding Now, Hamas is Serious (sort of)......So, Listen Up!

Odwan: The Israeli aggression on WB could lead to our withdrawal from the calm

"GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Atef Odwan, a member of the Hamas parliamentary bloc, warned that the Israeli onslaught on the West Bank through closing civil institutions and assassinations could drive the Palestinian people to pressure the factions to withdraw from the truce agreement especially since the Gaza people did not feel that the three-week-old calm alleviated even some of their suffering.

In a press statement to the Quds Press, Odwan said that the Israeli occupation wants to kill two birds with one stone through its aggression on the West Bank, where it aims to liquidate the Palestinian resistance in order to torpedo its decision regarding the truce, and to trespass on PA territories as if there is no authority there [ Authority? What Authority?]......."

COMMENT: It is becoming increasingly clear that Hamas has blundered, big time, in accepting the truce. Hamas agreed to exempt the West Bank, therefore it should not be surprised to see the increased Israeli repression and brutality there.

None of the objectives (from Hamas' point of view) were accomplished. The crossings are still closed most of the time, and only occasionally open at Israel's whim.

I keep reading the pathetic pleas of the Hamas leaders (including Ismail Haniyyah) for Egypt to "pressure Israel!" Can you believe such political naivety? Is this Hamas' grasp of reality and power relations in the region?

The Pharaoh, as Olmert's agent, has been playing with Hamas like a cat plays with a mouse. But Hamas does not seem to get it. How many times has Hamas declared that the Rafah crossing was about to be open? For over six months, all kinds of empty and meaningless promises were made to Hamas. First by the Europeans, then the UN and finally Egypt, that the Rafah crossing will be opened; to no avail!

Now, Hamas has backtracked and has accepted all of the conditions which it rejected before, including accepting the role of the European "observers" and that of the traitorous PA in running the Rafah crossing. But still the crossing remains closed.

When will Hamas get it? All this is buying time until Israel makes a big military push to try to eliminate Hamas and to re-install Abbas. Everything we have learned tells us that after the siege in the USraeli doctrine, comes the military attack, not opening the crossings. Why can't Hamas get it??
