Brief Translation:

The "Muslim Brothers" organization has officially declared that it will take part in the upcoming parliamentary "elections" in Egypt. It will field candidates in all districts.

Here is the significant part. The "Brothers" will run for elections under the slogan, "partnership and not contest." It declared that it will not compete with the ruling party of the Pharaoh.

And yet, the "Brothers" insist on keeping their slogan, "Islam is the solution!"

The "Brothers" (are they only naive and stupid, or more likely being used by the regime of the Pharaoh?) said that they will work to prevent any rigging of the elections!

The rest of the Egyptian opposition, including Kifaya and El-Baradei, strongly denounced this decision by the "Brothers" as it will give legitimacy to the fake elections and will only help the Pharaoh and his expected heir, Gamal.

Is there any doubt left about the intended role of this suspect organization called the "Muslim Brotherhood?" It has a long, dark history of preventing any real and progressive change in the Arab world. They fought Nasser (with the help of the British) and Arab nationalism under the banner of Islam, but Nasser put them in their place.

If this is an illustration of their "Islam is the solution," then who needs this solution? They want to abdicate real power to the Pharaoh while they concentrate on oppressing the civil society by their regressive and reactionary policies, especially towards women.

The "Brothers" have been exposed as never before. Keep this in mind when you assess Hamas, because it is connected by an umbilical cord to the "Brothers."

I say that this definition and application of Islam, in the service of the dictators, is not the answer; IT IS THE PROBLEM. ---Tony Sayegh
