Haneyya: Olmert's promises target driving wedge in Palestinian lines

"GAZA, (PIC)-- Ismail Haneyya, premier of the PA caretaker government, on Tuesday affirmed that the Israeli policy of premier Ehud Olmert aimed at driving a wedge in Palestinian national lines.

Haneyya, in press statement after touring a number of secondary schools in Gaza city, said that the IOF was not ready to return rights to the Palestinian people, "hence the battle with it (Israeli occupation) is long and rough, and we have to maintain all our strong cards topped by returning national unity".

"We draw the attention of the Palestinian and Arab leadership towards the seriousness of the Israeli policy", he underlined.

The caretaker premier renewed his welcome of the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's call for inter-Palestinian dialogue.

Olmert had promised PA chief Mahmoud Abbas during Sharm Al-Sheikh summit held in the presence of the Egyptian and Jordanian heads of state to release a number of Fatah prisoners and millions of dollars in frozen PA asset money in order to boost Abbas in face of Hamas.

For its part, the Hamas Movement welcomed Mubarak's call for inter-Palestinian dialogue during his speech at the Sahrm Al-Sheikh summit and hoped that Cairo would exert efforts in this direction."
