Rice to propose 'creative means' to bolster Abbas, weaken Hamas

HOW TO PROP UP A TRUSTED PUPPET AND A DEAD HORSE

"U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will discuss steps for strengthening Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on her visit to Israel this week. According to an Israeli diplomatic source, the U.S. administration wants to shore up Abbas' position and weaken Hamas by "creative" means, one of which would be the moving of funds to the PA through Abbas.

The U.S. administration wants to advance the diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinians, but understands that the two governments are too weak at this point to seriously discuss the core issues of a permanent settlement. Washington is therefore looking for interim ways of improving the economic situation in the PA and giving Abbas the credit.

Among other steps to be brought up by Rice is the strengthening of the presidential regime and security forces loyal to Abbas, as well as promotion of the plan proposed by U.S. General Keith Dayton for operation of the crossings between the Gaza Strip and Israel in a way similar to the manner in which the Rafah crossing is run. The plan calls for the crossings to be run by Abbas' presidential guard assisted by foreign observers. Defense Minister Amir Peretz has expressed his support for the plan.

Rice will also be visiting Cairo during the week, where she will meet with the Friends of Peace, a forum of foreign ministers from the moderate Arab countries, to discuss the rehabilitation of Lebanon as well as regional responses to Iran and the political process between Israel and the Palestinians. In its efforts to create an "alliance of moderates," the U.S. had initially wanted to call the meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but Egypt insisted on hosting the meeting."

THE PRINCESS OF DARKNESS IS COMING BACK, GOD HELP US!

With Rice in the region in a few days, this can only mean one thing: more birth pangs, Condoleezza style. Hurry to the bomb shelter if you have one!

This visit and her meeting with the "Friends of Peace" is the sequel to the peace campaign she conducted with Ehud Olmert against Lebanon with the souvenirs of peace in the form of a million cluster bomblets still on the ground in southern Lebanon. George Orwell would be very proud of how accomplished Rice has become in speaking the Newspeak. War is peace, indeed.

The orders were given to Abbas the puppet during his trip to New York. The demand is for him and his recently strengthened (by the US, Israel and the Friends of Peace) "security" forces to mount a military coup against Hamas and to disarm Hamas. A slow-moving coup of sorts is underway, but is not likely to succeed, especially in Gaza. After months of air-tight strangulation and starvation of Gaza, Rice thinks that Gaza is now a ripe fruit and easy picking for the puppet.

The script for this sequel should sound a bit familiar by now. Just as the goal of the forerunner was to disarm Hizbullah and end the Lebanese resistance, the goal of the sequel is to end the Palestinian resistance and to disarm Hamas. And just as the puppet Lebanese government did not have the popular support for a full confrontation with Hizbullah, the puppet Abbas is in an equally weak position vis-à-vis Hamas.

This brings us to the role of Israel, another certified member of the Friends of Peace. Just as Israel mounted a failed peace campaign to help the puppet Lebanese government to decapitate Hizbullah and to disarm it, Israel is already announcing its plan to mount another military campaign of indefinite duration in Gaza, with deep penetration and with the goal of killing Hamas leaders and liquidating Hamas. Well, you don't earn the title of a Friend of Peace easily; you need to get your hands bloody when needed, such as during another birth pang.
