Palestinian Karzai: "I Am the (non)State"

Fatah: "President Abbas will be the source of constitutional solutions"

"Bethlehem – Ma'an – The spokesperson of the Fatah movement in the West Bank, Jamal Nazzal, on Saturday stated that President Abbas' jurisdiction "will be the source of constitutional solutions".

In an interview with Palestine radio, Nazzal stated "Article 43 of the basic Palestinian law empowers the president to issue decisions, which are as effective as law, as long as Hamas continues to prevent the PLC from convening". Fatah PLC members boycotted the most recent session, held this week, which subsequently had to be cancelled due to not achieving a quorum of members. Over 40 Hamas PLC members have been detained by Israel over the last twelve months.

Asked "what will happen to the emergency government after 30 days [the legally-prescribed period of the state of emergency], Nazzal stated, "The law did not limit the number of times the president can announce the state of emergency, and so, the judicial advisors can extend the state of emergency as long as the mutiny which caused that state continues."......"
