Barghouthi demands Rafah Crossing to be opened to allow 6,000 stranded Palestinians home

"Ramallah - Ma'an - Palestinian Legislative Council member Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi has called for the 6,000 Palestinians stranded on the Egyptian side of Rafah Crossing to be allowed to return to their homes.

Dr. Barghouthi warned Israel of the dangers of keeping the crossing closed. He said that it represented a threat to many lives - of women, children and the sick - who he said are living in inhumane conditions. According to Barghouthi, Taghreed Al Abed, a 31-year-old mother of five, from Jabalia refugee camp, has passed away while waiting at the crossing.

Dr. Barghouthi also warned of an impending humanitarian disaster if the Gaza Strip's crossings remained closed. "
