"Bethlehem - Ma'an - Israeli ambulance crews have evacuated at least 12 wounded Palestinians from the Erez crossing, between the Gaza Strip and Israel, to an Israeli hospital in the southern city of Ashkelon, the website of the Israeli newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, reported on Tuesday evening.
The injured were evacuated through a secondary gateway in order to prevent a "possible stampede into Israel", the website said.
The Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon began receiving injured Palestinians on Tuesday afternoon, the website said, as the Erez crossing opened its gates for the first time since Hamas took over the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli news website added that most of the evacuated Palestinians were injured during the infighting while some were wounded during the shooting incident at Erez crossing on Monday night. Most are suffering from shrapnel injuries, the Israeli media site added."
