Iran: Iraq occupation devastating US

Press TV

"President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad takes a jab at the US for its continued occupation of Iraq, saying its presence only adds to its problems.

"The Iraqi nation opposes US military presence in their country to such an extent that Washington is now experiencing unprecedented problems," President Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Cuba's First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura.

"No one can deny that the crisis in Iraq has had a devastating impact on the American society," he added on the sidelines of the UN food summit in Rome.

During the meeting, the Iranian president welcomed closer economic and political cooperation with Cuba and expressed hope that joint projects between the two Non-Aligned Movement member states would prove effective in realizing common goals.

Machado Ventura, for his part, voiced Cuba's support for Iran's nuclear program and called on world governing bodies to make all possible reforms that will enable them to adequately defend the rights of nations. "
