Rights groups say Ali al-Singace, a 16-year-old boy from Sanabis, was kidnapped, beaten and sexually assaulted today by plainclothes men, Al Jazeera's Gregg Carlstrom reports from Manama.
Singace was stabbed and sexually assaulted with a hose before being dumped, bound and half-naked, in a garage, according to the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights. A representative from the group met with Singace this afternoon. He went to a police station shortly afterwards to file a complaint.
Bahrain's interior ministry told Al Jazeera it is investigating the incident.
A member of the centre posted several images on Twitter of Singace as he was purportedly found:
Singace has reportedly been kidnapped several other times. He is related to Abduljalil al-Singace, one of 14 prominent opposition activists convicted by a military court last year, who is currently serving a life sentence in prison.
The incident led to clashes this afternoon in Sanabis. Protesters say they were attacked by riot police, while the interior ministry says "thugs" attacked officers investigating the crime scene.
