"A UN commission of inquiry into human rights violations in Syria issues a statement in Geneva on Monday. Navi Pillay, the UN high commissioner for human rights, says the inquiry has found 'massive evidence' that the Syrian head of state, president Bashar al-Assad, is implicated in war crimes. The report is the first time the UN body has accused Assad directly. Damascus swiftly dismissed Pillay's remarks as 'nonsense'"
