South African delegation: Israel's acts will never bring peace to the region

"GAZA, (PIC)-- A South African parliamentary delegation stated Saturday during a visit to the PLC headquarters that South Africa supports the Palestinian people and rejects the unjust Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip, pointing out that Israel's acts will never bring peace to the region and its apartheid wall isolates the Israeli community.

The head of the delegation said that the Israeli government and the Knesset (Israeli parliament) tried to hinder their visit to Gaza and conditioned their meeting with Israeli officials on canceling this visit, adding that the delegation refused the Israeli blackmail and insisted on visiting Gaza.

The head of the delegation underlined that South Africa sympathizes with the kidnapped Palestinian lawmakers in Israeli jails, noting that he is doing his best to meet with PLC speaker Aziz Dweik and other MPs imprisoned in Israeli jails.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the acting speaker of the PLC, briefed the delegation on the suffering of the Gaza people under the Israeli siege and the injustice inflicted on the Palestinian lawmakers in Israeli jails in an attempt to undermine their steadfastness and force them to back down from being representatives of the Palestinian people.

For his part, Mohamed Radwan, the director of the foreign relations committee of the Hamas parliamentary bloc, handed the visiting delegation detailed reports on refugees, Jerusalem, the Aqsa Mosque, prisoners and the siege, where the South African delegation promised to read them thoroughly and to be in touch with the Hamas parliamentary committee regarding all the files of the Palestinian cause."
