Guardian Video: Exhausted Syrian refugees swim ashore on Greek island of Lesbos
Small boats carrying Syrian refugees arrive on the Greek island of Lesbos. The Carnegie Middle East Center says increasing numbers of Syrians are leaving neighbouring Lebanon to seek asylum in Europe. More than 1.1 million Syrian refugees have been staying in Beirut and Lebanon’s second largest city, Tripoli, but with no permanent settlement available they are barred from legally beginning a new life there
