Meanwhile in Iraq

At least 15 killed as U.S. occupation continues: Police found 10 bodies, including those of two women, in different parts of Baghdad since early on Friday.

3 U.S. occupation forces troops among 94 killed in Iraq: A total of 38 bodies were recovered by police in Baghdad in the past day, an Interior Ministry source said. Most were bound, shot and bore signs of torture.

U-S general calls for more Iraqi troops in Baghdad: PENTAGON The commander of U-S forces in Baghdad says they need roughly three-thousand more Iraqi forces to join the fight in Baghdad.

Rupert Cornwell: Nothing the Americans do stops the slide into despair : The hope was to reduce US forces in Iraq in this US election year. Instead they have been increased, from 127,000 in January to 144,000 now. Each day, two or three more American soldiers die. Since the March 2003 invasion over 2,690 have been lost.

Army Officials: Guard Troops May Be Needed: U.S. Army officials said they may require use of more National Guard troops to relieve the strain put on the Army by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
