US asked to consider air strikes in Iraq- reports
The Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki reportedly asked the US last month to consider air strikes, the New York Times is reporting, citing unnamed US and Iraqi officials.
In a keynote address to a security conference on Wednesday, the US national security adviser, Susan E. Rice, said the US had been fast to provide support for Iraq, under the strategic framework agreement. "And we are working together to roll back aggression and counter the threat that the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant [Isis] poses to the people of the region."
