Hamas: Abbas is biggest obstacle that hinders breaking of Gaza siege

"GAZA, (PIC)-- The Hamas Movement has condemned on Wednesday allegations of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas on the presence of the Qaeda militant group in Gaza Strip, affirming that those allegations were false and baseless.

Hamas unequivocally denied the allegations, asserting that the success of the PA police in Gaza to arrest the suspects behind the bombing of the YMCA's library in a very short time proves Hamas's credibility, describing Abbas as the biggest hindrance that prevents lifting of the economic siege on the 1.5 million individuals in the Strip.

The Movement also charged that the unwarranted allegations of Abbas "were meant to instigate the world against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, and reflect his desire to prepare the atmosphere for possible foreign aggression there".

However, Hamas threw the ball in Abbas's court, saying that the statements revealed by a number of Fatah members arrested by the PA police in Gaza over an attempt to kill the legitimate PA premier Ismael Haneyya in which they acknowledged that they planned to kill Haneyya and to issue a statement in the name of the Qaeda claiming responsibility for the attack. "They wanted to hit two birds with one stone that is killing Haneyya and confirming the presence of the Qaeda group in Gaza", said Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, the spokesman of Hamas in Gaza Strip, in a press conference he held Wednesday night in Gaza city, adding that the Qaeda in Gaza was a fabrication from Abbas with the aim to defame the image of Hamas.

Pro-Israel statements:

The Movement also deprecated statements uttered by Abbas linking the stopping of the Israeli aggressions and the lifting of the crushing economic siege on Gaza to halting firing home-made Palestinian rockets fired on Israeli colonies, underlining that his statements give the green light for Israel to continue shedding Palestinian blood.

"If it is true that the rockets fired from Gaza Strip was the reason behind the IOF aggressions, then how could Abbas explain the IOF aggressions in the West Bank that has no rockets fired on Israel?", Abu Zuhri questioned.

He explained that Hamas along with other Palestinian resistance factions had clamed down and halted firing of rockets on Israeli settlements (as requested by Abbas) more than one time in the past, yet, Abbas failed to stop the IOF aggressions in Gaza Strip and the West Bank even for one day....

Hamas also made it clear and sound that it will not deal with the infamous crossings deal signed by Fatah man Mohammed Dahalan and Israel in 2005, highlighting that Abbas's insistence on implementing the said treaty makes him the "biggest obstacle" that blocks opening of the Rafah crossing point and lifting of the siege.

A president against his own people:

Hamas also charged that Abbas was strongly participating in the unjust economic siege on Gaza Strip citing cutting off salaries of tens of thousands of PA employees in Gaza Strip by the "unconstitutional" PA government which Abbas installed in Ramallah city under Salam Fayyadh......

Finally, the Movement held Abbas directly responsible for the death of Hamas's figure in Ramallah city Sheikh Majd Al-Barghouthi who was tortured to death at the hands of Abbas's intelligence elements, deploring Abbas's allegations that Barghouthi died of a heart attack.

Medical sources in Ramallah city confirmed that Barghouthi was exposed to severe torture all over his body in the PA intelligence jail that ultimately led to his death."
