"Amid stalemate of direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), Syrian President Bashar al-Assad says that Tel Aviv is not seeking peace in the Middle East.
"Israel does not wish for and is not ready to make peace," Assad said during a meeting with visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Thursday.
Tel Aviv is following a "tactical course aimed at persuading the world that it is passionate about peace and that it is the Arabs who reject it."
